The Sometimes Island

The Sometimes Island

Every year my brother takes his big boat up to Desolation Sound, BC, to a fishing resort where he guides for the summer. I was lucky enough to tag along with him one year and was able to get into some nooks and crannies that are only accessible by boat. This is a cool little spot where at low tide this little cluster of trees is part of the mainland and at high tide it’s an island. I’ve always been drawn to areas on the cusp between one environment and another – they seem active and more interesting than static environments.
